A weak front will move through WNC tomorrow during the day will very cold temperatures in place. High elevation locations will certainly see snowfall throughout the day, and even some elevations below 2500’ could even get on the snowfall action. Models are spilt on this solution, so there is some uncertainty as to whether moisture will actually hit the ground. Below you can see my projected snowfall map.
Weak disturbances like these can cause havoc with forecasts. Overrunning precipitation struggles to show up on models and therefore some surprises can be possible. Below you can see the most recent NAM and how it brings precipitation later today. Will this come to fruition? I am not certain, but what does look likely is precipitation. Sounds are razor close to being snow, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see snowfall in many locations around WNC.
Other Model Data
The European is also showing a brief period for snow showers today and into this afternoon. Now whether this accumulates or not is still up in the air, but I believe an isolated dusting to 1 inch will be possible as this moisture moves through.
HRRR Model Also Shows Snow Today For WNC
Though scattered in nature, the HRRR model shows snowfall all across WNC today. Some valley locations could change to rainfall per this model, but there is a good chance that during heavy precipitation you will switch to snow. Watch the HRRR progression.
