Sea of Mountains
The Black Balsam area is gorgeous and one early Thanksgiving morning, me and my uncle hiked up. Rushing to beat the sunset I setup my gear for a time-lapse and then we went for a hike. When I returned, this was part of the scene that took my breath away.
Sunset From Sunset
I was originally posted in this position to live stream a full moon, but that ended up less than desirable.. but this sunset will be what I remember from that night. The faint lights below are of the Woodfin valley and UNC-A shines the brightest.
Solitude at the Knob
This was my first time ever visiting Waterrock Knob, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. As clouds streamed in from the south, the sun continued to dip behind the clouds distorting the rays in such a beautiful way.
Take Flight
The world is yours, and its endless..
Late this night I was photographing the Milky Way as I do from time to time, and a car happened to drive past in my long exposure shot. For some photographers this is not ideal, but I use every occurrence as an opportunity and this was the result! Now I find myself from time to time waiting until cars are in my long exposure shot.
Solitude at 6000'
When you get above 6000’ in the WNC mountains, it is a whole different world. In many locations only pine trees will grow due to less oxygen, and in some spots you can even see the Milky Way. This shot was taken as a random small pull off near Black Balsam on The Blue Ridge Parkway.
Devils Startrails
An epic starry sky over the popular hiking destination Devils Courthouse on The Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a composition of 40 photos consecutively shot in 30 second intervals and compresses into one photo. This technique is know as “startrails”.
