A beautiful day is in store for WNC and this will continue as we move through the middle part of the week. In fact, temperatures today could push as high as the low 80’s for some in the area. The 3km Nam shows the Asheville Airport reaching 78 today, but I believe that sunshine will allow surface temps to reach around 80, or maybe a bit higher. Paired with excessive rainfall last week, these temps will kick off the growing season in a big way!
Warm Temps Continue Through Thursday
High temperatures are expected to stay in the 70’s through Thursday, and that will be a welcomed relief as I think we are nearing the end of cold snaps for the Spring. Clouds will begin to build again through Thursday evening, and then the cycle repeats itself with another rainy Friday expected.
Rain Moves Back In Early Friday
Scattered showers look to push back into WNC on Friday morning, but just how much falls is still in question. The GFS shows less than .25” of rain falling in most locations whereas the European model indicated that a widespread .5”+ could be possible. These totals though are nowhere near as high as what we experienced last Friday, so I think the flash flooding threat will be minimal. That being said, more of a trend towards the Euro and the possibility for high totals needs to be monitored. Have a great Tuesday, and enjoy the beautiful weather!
